I guess every road trip has to have something go wrong. Well today was the day. We started out from Reno this morning heading to Santa Cruz, CA via Lake Tahoe. Lake Tahoe is one of the most beautiful lakes we have ever seen. We stopped for lunch and then continued over the mountain pass towards Sacramento. About half way down the mountain we heard a bang - similar to a gun shot and realized our tire had blown. Think of the worst place for this to happen and we were in it! No real pull off, cars and trucks whizzing by as we were perched on a cliff next to a stream - beautiful but very dangerous. We had to unload all our camping gear just to get to the tire! Not fun. We are still on the road having the tires changed. Hopefully we will make Santa Cruz before midnight! It will be good to be in one place for a few days!

A beautiful spot to get stuck, but terrifying! |
Just think of the memories and laughs you will have later over this!! I am so jealous while looking over your pics and comments but also so happy for you both! Miss you!!
ReplyDeleteWe are already laughing about it with Victor and Julie. There is a sense of accomplishment in changing your own tire in 103º on a mountain road in the middle of no where and surviving it! We have been having an awesome time with Victor & Julie. Played Wizard last night with their friends and had a BBQ. Victor & Julie send their love. Wish you were here. Love & Kisses! ~ D.
